Printers, TV's & other IoT Devices (excluding Amazon Echo)

Now that you're all connected to your brand new 4tech network you will now be in the process of getting all your devices connected to the wi-fi.

To keep your security as secure as possible we have had to implement WPA-2 Enterprise across all of our WiFi networks. Due to this connecting devices like printers, TV's, Amazon Echo's and other such devices requires a little bit of a different process.

These types of devices don't typically support the encryption we use on our standard networks so we have to pre-authenticate them using their unique MAC/Hardware address onto another network, it will be a string of 12 digits looking similar to this (00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E).

Below is some information on how to find your device's wireless MAC/Hardware address, but you may also have to consult the manufacturer's documentation.

Printers
1. Control-panel display: On the printer’s menu, tap Settings → Network → View Status. Look for “MAC Address” or “Hardware Address.”
2. Configuration Page: From the printer’s menu, choose Print Reports → Network Configuration; print and read the “MAC Address” entry.
3. Non touch screen printers may need connecting using a USB cable and printer software or using the printer's mobile APP to find the "MAC Address"

Smart TVs
1. Open Settings on the TV remote.
2. Go to Network or General → About This TV (varies by brand).
3. Select Network Status or Network Settings and scroll to MAC Address. Some models list separate addresses for Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi.

Amazon Echo.
1. Open the Alexa app on your phone.
2. Tap Devices (bottom menu) → select your Echo device.
3. Tap the gear icon (⚙️) → scroll to Device Details → view MAC Address.

Google Home
1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Tap your speaker/display → gear icon (⚙️).
3. Scroll to Device information and view MAC address.

Apple HomePod
1. Open Home app on iOS.
2. Long-press HomePod icon → tap Settings (gear).
3. Scroll down to Network → find Wi-Fi Address (MAC).

Chromebook
1. Sign in to your Chromebook.
2. Click the time: in the bottom right corner of your screen.
3. Select the Wi-Fi network: you are connected to.
4. Click "Information": at the top of the box.
5. Your MAC address: will be displayed under the "Wi-Fi" label, along with your IP address.

Once you have this if you can reply with the MAC/Hardware address and we will get it added and send back some instructions on how to get it connected.

Thanks,
4tech
